Calman Report – has he turned Nationalist? The Scottish Independence Convention has given its initial view on the Calman Report issued today. Vice Chair Aileen Orr said today “having read the report, and initially thought predictable, we have sifted through it again to note that far from writing off Independence, it adds to the arguments for an Independent Scotland.” She added “so many people have asked us about the cost of this report, the exclusion of so many Scots in its consultation and the bias against those who support independence, the content of the report seemed pointless. However, it appears, despite being commissioned by the Unionist parties, Sir Kenneth Calman may have inadvertently given the pro Independence parties a boost. The Scots have always found denial to run their own affairs insulting, but Calman has shown that we can. Possibly, the commissioning of this report has made a Nationalist out of him, which was a jested prediction by the late Professor Neil MacCormick.” Issued by Aileen Orr Vice Chair - Scottish Independence Convention Chair - Elaine C.
